The Cobb County-Marietta Water is a nationally recognized, award-winning wholesale water provider. We are proud to share the awards and accomplishments that our staff and facilities have received.

2022

Georgia Association of Water Professionals QA/QC Laboratory Award

CCMWA's Simmons Laboratory earned the Gold Award for the third year in a row.

 The purpose of this award is to encourage the professional advancement of laboratories within Georgia. The process provides an avenue for peers to exchange ideas, circulate technical expertise, and offer productive feedback. In doing so, the committee ultimately recognizes those laboratories that are demonstrating outstanding quality assurance programs.

Georgia Association of Water Professional's Industrial Facility Platinum Award

CCMWA's Wyckoff Plant was the recipient of GAWP's Platinum Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant of the Year Award in 2022 for 15 years of complete and consistent SDWA permit compliance. This award recognizes facilities operated by Corporate and Utility members that had no NPDES or pretreatment permit violations during the preceding calendar year.

 

Georgia Association of Water Professionals BioSolids/Residuals Program of Excellence

These awards recognize excellence in biosolids management.

Georgia Associations of Water Professionals' 2022 Champion of Diversity

In 2022, CCMWA earned the Georgia Association of Water Professionals' Champion of Diversity Award. The purpose of this award is to recognize an organization that has created, promoted, and maintained diversity, equity, and inclusion by establishing an environment that recognizes encourages, and effectively utilizes each talent.

2021

Georgia Association of Water Professionals 2021 QA/QC Gold Award

The purpose of this award is to encourage the professional advancement of laboratories within Georgia. Atlanta Business Chronicle and SHRM - 2021 Best Total Rewards Strategy Winner

This award honors a company or organization that has developed a measurably effective compensation and benefits strategy. 

2021 Nathan Meredith DeJarnette Award

Stan Brinkley was awarded the 2021 Nathan Meredith DeJarnette Award. This award  recognizes a member for their role in further encouraging and promoting operational advancements and achievements in the water and water pollution control field. The GAWP Dejarnette Award reflects outstanding accomplishments in operating a water or water pollution control facility, and/or providing outstanding service in instruction and training for other operators, as well as enhancing field operations or operational devices, techniques, or programs.

 

Georgia Association of Water Professionals 2021 District 3 TopOp Award

Keith Southern, a Class I Operator working at Quarles for almost 33 years, was selected to receive the GAWP's 2021 District 3 Water TopOp Award. This award recognizes operators who have been a moving force in the operations of their respective facilities and has encouraged the spread of operations knowledge in some way.

 

Georgia Association of Water Professionals Best Operated Plant of the Year Award in the category of Surface Water 50 MGD

Our Wyckoff Water Treatment Plant received the Georgia Association of Water Professional’s Best Operated Plant of the Year award for the fourth year in a row. To be considered for this award, the plant must score a minimum of 90% on a plant evaluation. Additional criteria for this award include bacteriological monitoring, and all flow volumes (both raw and treated).

2020

Georgia Local Government Personnel Association - 2020 Small Agency Award

This award recognizes the overall quality, accomplishments, and contributions of an  agency human resource program that exceeds the normal operation of a “good government human resource program.”  

Georgia Association of Water Professionals Best Operated Plant of the Year Award in the category of Surface Water 50 MGD

Our Wyckoff Water Treatment Plant received the Georgia Association of Water Professional’s Best Operated Plant of the Year award for the third year in a row. To be considered for this award, the plant must score a minimum of 90% on a plant evaluation. Additional criteria for this award include bacteriological monitoring, and all flow volumes (both raw and treated).

Georgia Association of Water Professionals Biosolids/Residuals Program of Excellence Award, Small Operating System

Our Wyckoff Water Treatment Plant received the Georgia Association of Water Professionals Biosolids/ Residuals Program of Excellence Award for Small Operating systems. To be considered for this award, the plant must recycle or reuse natural resources such as nutrients or organic matter found in biosolids, demonstrate energy efficiency and/or cost effectiveness, demonstrate excellence in program management, and technical innovation in the management of biosolids/residuals.

2019

The American Society of Civil Engineers Project of the Year Award

Our Quarles Water Treatment plant won Project of the year at the American Society of Civil Engineer awards for the many innovative and unique features of the $71.8 million-dollar project. Several aspects of the project were highlighted including public outreach to scheduling and construction sequencing to equipment and processes to enhance efficiency and sustainability.

Laboratory Division: 2019 Georgia Associate of Water Professionals Quality Assurance/Quality Control QA/QC

This award recognizes laboratories who are demonstrating outstanding quality assurance programs.

Transmissions Division: 2019 Distribution System Excellence Gold Award

This award recognizes excellence in management, operation, and maintenance of the water distribution system.

The Government Finance Officers Association 2019 Budget Award with Special Recognition

CCMWA’s Finance Division was awarded the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award by the Government Finance Officers Association. Our Finance Division was also given a special recognition that was granted to only 32 of the 1345 winners! To qualify for this special recognition, the budget document must be scored as outstanding in the Performance Measures category by all three of the independent reviewers.

2018

Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) Award

Cobb County-Marietta Water Authority was awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR). The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. In order to be awarded the Certificate of Achievement, a government must publish an easily readable and efficiently organized comprehensive annual financial report that satisfies both generally accepted accounting principles and applicable legal requirements.

The Georgia American Water Works Association George Warren Fuller Award

At the 2018 Georgia American Water Works Association (GAWWA) conference, our General Manager, Glenn Page, was honored with the George Warren Fuller Award. This award is presented annually by each section of American Water Works Association to a selected member for their distinguished service to the water supply field in commemoration of the sound engineering skill, brilliant diplomatic talent, and the constructive leadership. Recipients of the award have provided outstanding leadership or have made a significant contribution toward the advancement of the water works practice within the Association.

Georgia Water Coalition’s 2018 Clean 13

CCMWA was recognized as an honoree in the 2018 Georgia Water Coalition’s 2018 Clean 13 report. This report highlights the efforts of individuals, businesses, industries, non-profit organizations and state and local governments who embody a culture that demands respect and care for Georgia’s rivers, lakes, and streams.

Georgia Association of Water Professionals Top Operator of the Year

Bennett Vaughn was recognized with the Top OP Award for outstanding job performance of his regular duties and for demonstrating a high degree of expertise in operations.

Finance Division: 2019 Budget Award

CCMWA’s Finance Division was awarded the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award by the Government Finance Officers Association.

Transmissions Division: 2019 Distribution System Excellence Gold Award
