CCMWA Reaffirms Commitment to Safe, Reliable Water Service Following Recent Cybersecurity Incidents

In light of recent cybersecurity incidents affecting water utilities across the country, Cobb County-Marietta Water Authority wants to assure customers and the community that our water systems continue to operate safely and reliably.

At this time, CCMWA has not experienced any incidents related to these recent events, and there has been no impact to water quality, operations, or customer services. While there is no indication that our systems have been affected, we recognize that cybersecurity threats remain an evolving challenge for critical infrastructure providers.

Protecting the systems that support the delivery of safe drinking water is a top priority. The Authority employs multiple layers of cybersecurity safeguards and continuously monitors its networks and operational technology environments. We also work closely with federal, state, and industry partners to stay informed of emerging threats, share information, and implement cybersecurity best practices.

We understand that our customers, and the community, depend on us to provide safe, reliable water service every day.  Although we have not experienced any operational issues related to these recent attacks, we remain vigilant and continue to strengthen our cybersecurity posture to help protect the essential services our community relies on.
